2007-11-02: Memories
What are your favorite memories from childhood? Two stand out in my mind. I remember coming into the house after basketball practice and smelling supper cooking as I walked through the door. We always had a family supper around the dinner table. I remember large glasses of ice tea and the community towel we passed around to wipe our hands on. I remember that we always had good fellowship as we ate together.
The second special memory was riding with my dad in the summer time as we did the farming. When I was little, he would pick me up about 10:30 in the morning and I was the gopher for the rest of the day. I remember him getting tired of the 1,001 questions that I would ask, but I also remember that he patiently answered most of them.
Isn't it interesting that some of our favorite memories are about the times that we share with other people? In fact when we come to the end of our life the one regret most of us have is that we did not spend enough time with family and friends. Maybe it is time to slow down and build some memories with those around you.
