2007-11-06: Spiritual Weeds

Have you ever noticed how weeds try to take over your yard if you haven't had enough water or if the yard has been damaged in some way? As I was pulling weeds and spraying weeds the past week, I compared that to our spiritual lives. When we haven't nourished our spiritual lives then weeds (or sins) begin to take over our heart.

I have decided that I will try to pull a few weeds every time I go out into the yard. In the same way, we can pull some of our spiritual weeds (sins) every day through confession and repentance. That will allow our lives to grow and bear spiritual fruit. Jesus himself said that when "good seed falls among the weeds, the weeds grow up and choke the plants so that they can not bear what they were created to bear." (Mark 4:7 paraphrase)

Keep confession up to date and keep pulling weeds!
